Commuters who use beep Cards to get around the metro will now feel much safer while traveling since they will receive free personal accident coverage from Malayan Insurance.
This new value-added service offered exclusively to users of the contactless payment card is a project between Malayan Insurance and AF Payments Inc., the owner and operator of beep™ stored value cards.
Beginning this September until December, active beep™ cardholders can avail of their free one-month Malayan Insurance personal accident policy which includes accidental death coverage worth ₱10,000, Total Permanent Disability benefit of ₱10,000, Disablement & Dismemberment coverage up to ₱10,000, and Burial Assistance Benefit of ₱2,000.
“We understand the challenges commuters face daily and we’d like to lessen their burden by helping them experience worry-free travel through their very own personal accident plan, at no added cost to them,” said Paolo Y. Abaya, president and chief executive officer of Malayan Insurance. “We’re delighted to offer this benefit to the riding public, and are quite honored to partner with AF Payments Inc. in their endeavor to give commuters a more enriching experience,” he added.
This incentive is AF Payments’ response to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista’s call to extend discounts or deals to beep™ card holders. Through this value-added feature, it is hoped that more commuters will be encouraged to use stored value cards to board the LRT, MRT, P2P Buses, and modern public utility vehicles to decongest the long lines that build up during rush hour.
In an interview, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said, “If the discount is good, some of the commuters told me they may end up purchasing the stored value ticket. I have discussed this with the managements of MRT and LRT and they are thinking of adopting some fare schemes for those who are holding stored tickets.”
“The free personal accident coverage we offer through our partner, Malayan Insurance, is a very convenient and practical value-added benefit for our customers. Since our cardholders are always on the go, this free policy can give them a financial safety net in case they meet untoward accidents at any point during their day,” said AF Payments Inc. CEO Jonathan Juan Moreno.
To avail of the promo, cardholders have to download the beep™ app, create an account, and register their beep card into the app. After signing up, they will receive their free one-month insurance. The beep™ app can be downloaded from App Store, Google Play, and AppGallery.
