The victim was identified as Reymond Lucero, 46, of Barangay Balintawak.

Lt. Col. Jake Barila, Escalante police chief, said that Lucero was supposed to fetch his wife when four unidentified persons on board two motorcycles arrived.

One of the perpetrators attacked the victim first, while another suspect attacked the victim again when he fell into the ground, Barila said.

The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and body.

Police recovered bullets, cartridge cases and deformed slugs of .45 caliber and .9mm caliber firearms at the crime scene.

Barila said they are looking into work-related possible motives in the killing, though they are also checking the background of the victim to determine if he had enemies that could be linked to the crime.

Barila said that Lucero had been working as a traffic enforcer in the city for years now.

He was known to be strict on traffic rules and violations, Barila added.

Barila said they already have a person of interest.
