A total of 1,500 registered members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association (TODA) from Quezon City's third district received fuel subsidy fleet cards in Barangay Loyola Heights in the city on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
The fuel subsidy distribution was under the City Ordinance SP 3100, Series of 2022, signed by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and enacted in March 2022.
The ordinance aims to provide fuel subsidies to more than 25,000 TODA members in Quezon City.
Each fleet card has a P1,000 worth of fuel subsidy valid for a month. Up to P400 worth of fuel can be used in a day.
The fleet cards were distributed in response to the increasing prices of petroleum products.
The distribution of fleet cards was led by QC Tricycle Regulation Division Chief Ben Ibon along with District 3 Action Officer Atty. Tommy De Castro, Councilor Ram Medalla, QC Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management (TF-TTM) Chief Dexter Cardenas.
Ibon said they are experiencing distribution delays due to the gradual reproduction of fleet cards.
The city government said the fleet cards were registered under the names of the tricycle franchise holders.
It added that beneficiaries can keep the cards and use them for the next fuel subsidy program.
A total of 7,471 TODA members received fuel subsidy fleet cards from the city government since its implementation last July 7.
