The Taguig City Police explained the presence of a Chinese police car in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).
A Reddit user uploaded a photo of the car with the description “Chinese Police car patrolling in the Philippines” to the Philippine community on the site.
In a statement issued on Oct. 5, Taguig police said the car, with markings “police” in English and Chinese, was used for the filming of a movie but they were not notified about it.
“The car with the body marking "Police" in Chinese language and with plate number NBO 3277 that was the subject of a recent viral post was a private vehicle used to shoot a portion of a Tikkoun French Movie Series,” Taguig police said, adding that it was not a real police car.
Based on the investigation, “the series film shooting took place on October 2, 2022 from 6:00AM-12NN during the French Day Event.”
“Based on the pertinent documents and coordination letters provided by the Bonifacio Estate Services Corporation (BESC), the event was approved officially but the aforementioned office failed to furnish a copy or personally inform the BGC Tourist Police,” police said.
Taguig police reminded that “in light of this, we strongly encourage all establishment owners and event organizers to notify our office about such events. It is our duty to serve as security and maintain peace and order especially in events that draw massive gatherings.”
“I appreciate the vigilance of our netizens for calling our attention. Ang iyong kapulisan ay handang umaksyon lalo na sa ikabubuti ng ating kababayan at bansang Pilipinas (Your police are ready to take action especially for the good of our countrymen and the Philippines),” police said.
