Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles has stepped down from her post, Malacañang said on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Angeles tendered her resignation on Tuesday, Oct. 4, due to health reasons.
This was confirmed by Angeles herself and two other Palace officials.
"I tendered my resignation this morning, effective end of business hours today. Due to health reasons," Angeles said in a text message to reporters shortly after Malacañang announced her resignation.
Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Guevarra said there is still no replacement for the former press secretary, saying their main concern now is to process the resignation.
"Wala pa pong bagong (There is still no new) Press Secretary...She's tendered her resignation today so we are still in the process of helping the Office address her resignation today," he said.
"So yun na muna ang ating (that's our) present concern. Hopefully in the near future, we will have a new Press Secretary," he added.
He was with new Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin when he addressed the issue.
While the Palace officials did not divulge further information about Angeles' medical concern, they said it needs to be addressed now.
Angeles' resignation came after her nomination to the post was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments (CA) along with 13 more Cabinet members picked by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
