President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has expressed concern over the killing of hard-hitting journalist Percy Mabasa, more popularly known as Percy Lapid.
This was according to Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Guevarra, who said Tuesday, Oct. 4, that the President already instructed them "to take a look at the code of investigation on the ambush" of Lapid that happened Monday night.
"In fact, I was in communication with certain officials who advised me that the Southern Police District (SPD) created a Task Force on Percy Lapid," Guevarra told reporters.
The SPD is the one tasked to investigate the incident as Lapid was shot dead at the gate of BF Resort Village in Talon Dos, Las Piñas.
Guevarra also said he was informed that a Presidential Task Force on Media Security has been established, which he would meet to work with the SPD.
"In fact, I personally would meet with them, convene them if necessary, to advise them...to sit down with the Southern Police District and ensure that the conduct of investigation proceeds without any problem and submit to us, report to us hopefully within the next seven days," he added.
Lapid was a columnist and radio commentator known for his criticisms against the government and some officials.
