Bella Hadid dons a spray-on dress at Paris Fashion Week spring-summer 2023

Coperni’s finale moment is currently the talk of the town

After the style fests in New York and Milan, the world’s eyes are now focused on France as Paris Fashion Week spring-summer 2023 goes full swing. As of the moment, French brand Coperni is making a buzz online after ending its showcase on a high note with supermodel Bella Hadid.

While many Parisian design houses produced the best fashions for the coming season using the most exquisite textiles, Coperni brings everyone to the future with the Fabrican. For 10 minutes, the audience of the show watched Bella, wearing nothing but nude underwear, getting sprayed with Fabrican by creator Manel Torres and his team. The liquid, made from polymers and fibers, transform instantly into a non-woven wearable material. According to fashion writer Evan Ross Katz, this technology was invented in 2010.

Coperni’s head of design, Charlotte Raymond, then went on to manipulate the spray-on dress, adjusting its neckline, removing excess webs, and giving it a high side slit. The dress is done without seams, hems, or any bit of sewing, which took the audience's breath away.

“Thank you, Bella Hadid, for this magical moment that will stay engraved in our minds and hearts forever. Thank you for your trust, love, and the most mind-blowing performance. We are so proud of what we created altogether,” the label posted. “None of this would have been possible without Manel Torres and his talent. When fashion meets technology.”

“There is no singular person more important than the next,” the model posted in response. “Only together can we make magic… Thank you for all of the love… I am still speechless!”

While the moment made many think of the robots painting a dress in Alexander McQueen’s 1999 spring show, Arnaud Vaillant, one of the co-founders of the brand, said to the New York Times that “it’s totally different.”
