Woman, 2 minors hurt as truck rams house in QC

A woman and two minors were injured after a six-wheel truck crashed into their house on Batasan-San Mateo Road in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, on Monday, Oct. 3.

Police identified the injured victims as Lyan Lipardo, 37; her seven-year-old son and her six-month-old grandson.

According to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) report, a Mitsubishi Dropside truck loaded with scrap metals was travelling from IBP Road going to Marikina City at around 11:40 a.m. when it lost its brakes.

Police said the vehicle hit a public utility jeepney (PUJ) coming from the opposite lane before crashing into the victims’ house. The jeepney flipped on its left side.

The truck destroyed the front part of the house, according to the police.

Police identified the truck driver as Jonathan Cuyom, 33, of Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City, while his helpers as Robert Teves and Edison Orkana.

The injured victims were given first aid before they were rushed to a hospital.

The suspects will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property with multiple physical injuries, the police said.
