vivo Y16: A quick and easy must-have

Say, did we miss the vivo Y1 to 15 editions. Coz' if we did, thank heavens there's the vivo Y16.

The new vivo Y16 arrived quietly at the MB Techlab with no promise of excellence unlike our earlier new arrivals.

The vivo Y16, however, delivered, like a premium device, but with a very affordable price tag.

Trendy-looking vivo Y16 is aesthetically above-par, with a rear panel finished with a diagonal pattern that gives you that subtle holographic look under bright lightings.

Face up, the vivo Y16 presents you with a large 6.51-inch Full IPS display (resolution at 1600 x 720 pixels) with a slim 0.8, 2.5D curvature and a flat frame. It runs on a MediaTek Helio P35 Octa-core processor and an Android 12-based Funtouch OS 12. It is paired with 4GB RAM and a 64GB or 128GB of internal ROM storage plus a large 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging rate support.

This very affordable smartphone features a dual camera – a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. A 5-megapixel selfie shooter is in a waterdrop notch on the top. The vivo Y16 sports a USB Type-C port, a dual nano-SIM slots with 4G LTE network connectivity, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, micro-SD card support.

Vivo has equipped the Y16 with connectivity features including Dual-SIM, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, a Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor to unlock the device. It also supports GPS, BEIDOU, GLONASS, and GALILEO for location services.

The device comes in two colors -- Stellar Black and Drizzling Gold.

For its looks and features worth twice its below 8K  price tag, the vivo Y16 should be in anyone's shopping list.
