Street fighting gets hilariously rowdy in new TV5 and Sari Sari Channel sitcom ‘Kalye Kweens’

Alma Moreno and Dina Bonnevie

Get ready to rumble as two of the feistiest women of Philippine show business flex their sassiness to the bardagulan level in the new comedy series Kalye Kweens, which premiered on Oct. 1 and airing every Saturday at 8:30pm on TV5 and every Sunday at 8:00pm on Sari Sari Channel.

Top-billed by veteran actresses Ms. Alma Moreno and Ms. Dina Bonnevie, Kalye Kweens highlights relatable and realistic scenes involving the funny rivalry between two women, two families, and two communities. The show also gives nostalgic vibes with both of the legendary actresses making their TV comeback through a sitcom that brings together some familiar and new faces, including Marissa Delgado, Jeric Raval, Jojo Abellana, Giselle Sanchez, Marissa Sanchez, Jairus Aquino, Vitto Marquez, Aubrey Caraan, and Lyca Gairanod.

Directed by Temi Cruz Abad, Kalye Kweens revolves around the story of former best friends Mandy (Alma Moreno), Altaville’s Homeowners Association President, and Telly (Dina Bonnevie), Kapit-bisig’s Kapitana. The two women used to be the closest buddies when they were younger, but their friendship turned sour when Mandy’s father won the lottery jackpot and their family moved to middle-class subdivision Altaville. More than the class difference brought by their separation, their rivalry was ignited when Telly married Mandy’s ex-boyfriend Roy (Jeric Raval).

Conflict heightens between the neighboring communities of Altaville and Kapit-bisig when the San Diego LGU designates the intersecting streets of Calachuchi (on Kapit-bisig) and Lavender (on Altaville) as public passageways to various parts of the town. Given their roles as respective leaders of their communities, Mandy and Telly will do everything under their power to fight for their territories.
