LAGUINDINGAN, Misamis Oriental – The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) elected Nunungan, Lanao del Norte Mayor Marcos Mamay as vice president for external affairs during the national election on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City.
Mamay said he had a tough selection process.
“It was really difficult, they had a lot of questions, interviews, meetings, among others, to prove whether or not I deserve the position,” he told reporters following his arrival from Manila here on Sunday, Oct. 1.
He added that interviews and stories on what he is doing to improve his town posted on his Facebook page contributed to his election.
"Nakita nila ang mga accomplishment sa among lungsod ug ang mga kalambuan niini. Mga interview sa media nga nagpamatuod sa nahimo nga mga proyekto nga maoy isa sa ilang nakita para ila akong suportahan (They saw the accomplishments in our town and its development. The media interviews that confirm the projects that have been done are one of the few things they saw that made them support me),” he said.
"I am overwhelmed to see all of you, I feel your sincerity towards reaching my development goals not just in Nunungan, not just in Lanao del Norte but the whole of the country, thank you so much for that," Mamay said.
He vowed to bring pride and voice to the Philippines overseas, serve the public to the best of his ability, and support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the LMP.
Mama, LMP-Lanao del Norte chapter president, will represent the country in a world peace gathering in Seoul, South Korea from Oct. 9 to 17.
La Paz, Abra Mayor JB Bernos was elected LMP national president.
The new LMP officials took their oath on Friday, Sept. 30, in Malacañang before Marcos.
