As the culminating activity for NTM, DepEd will also observe NTD and WTD on Oct. 5.
These celebrations, DepED said, are under Presidential Proclamation No. 242 series of 2011 titled Declaring the Period from September 5 to October 5 of Every Year as National Teachers’ Month; Republic Act No. 10743 titled An Act Declaring the Fifth Day of October of Every Year as a National Teachers’ Day and its Implementing Rules And Regulations (IRR) and the designation of the World Teachers’ Day every 5th of October by the United Nations Education and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO).
“The events shall be hosted by the DepEd Cordillera Administrative Region,” DepED said.
DepED explained that the celebrations of NTD/WTD aim to “honor those who are in the teaching profession.”
The NTD/WTD also aims to “acknowledge and give emphasis on the crucial role, loyal service and dedicated commitment of teachers in developing globally-minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation.”
Likewise, the celebrations also want to “revitalize the image and respect for teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness on the value of teachers In the Philippine society.”
DepED expressed hope that the NTD/WTD celebrations will serve as “an opportunity in building the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession” and would “generate widespread support and assistance for teachers.” During the celebration of NTD/WTD, DepEd enjoined former and current students to “express gratitude for the positive influence of teachers on Filipino learners.”
Related to this, DepED also instructed all public and private elementary and secondary schools --- including Regional Offices (ROs), School Division offices (SDOs), and school district offices --- enjoyed to follow the synchronous programs, projects, and activities.
In particular, schools were directed to lead the recitation of “A Prayer for Teachers” during the NTM kick-off and NTD/WTD program at exactly 10:05 a.m.
All regional directors (RDs), schools division superintendents (SDS), district supervisors, and school heads were also enjoined to “actively lead all of the activities for the NTM and NTD celebrations.”
DepED reminded concerned units and officials that the activity shall be done following the DO No. 9 s. of 2005 titled “Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-On-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.”
In line with the occasion, DepED said that its Central Office, ROs, SDOs, school district offices, and schools should post streamers with the official logo to ensure that the public is aware of the NTM and NTD/WTD celebrations.
