BIR replacing "Ask for Receipt" notice

Starting next year, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is replacing the "Ask for Receipt" notice with "Notice to Issue Receipt/Invoice" (NIRI) in every retail outlet and other establishments nationwide.

In a statement, the BIR said the posting of the decal should be done at the conspicuous places of the business establishments.

Also mandated to get the tax notice are online merchants, vloggers, social media influencers and online content operators earning income from the platform and advertising.

Revenue Commissioner Lilia Catris Guillermo said the existing decal will be valid only until June 30, 2023.

She said NIRI will be released to store owners upon updating their registration information sheet.

It will be released on a staggered basis, depending on the ending digit of the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

"All registered business taxpayers requesting for the replacement of their old "Ask for Receipt" notice are required to update their registration information before release of NIRI," said the BIR chief in Revenue Memorandum Circular 43-2023.
