Blocking a text scam is not enough — report it.

Text scams have been circulating and bugging mobile users since Jan. 3, 2020 according to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). Most of these contain fake job offers, promises of cash and other rewards, as well as hyperlinks that often direct users to suspicious websites.
NTC previously warned the public against entertaining text scams, urging Filipinos to report these instead.
“If you receive this kind of text message or similar content, especially sent thru regular cell phone number having eleven digits, do not entertain and kindly save and report it ,” the Commission said in an advisory posted on its website.
In reporting a text scam to the NTC, the public was instructed to send an email at kontratextscam@ntc.gov.ph. Using this method, NTC said complainants should provide their complete name, address, email, contact number, a photo of their government-issued ID, and a screenshot of the text scam message with the sender’s mobile number.
Another method involves direct uploading of data on the Commission’s website in three easy steps.
Once on the website’s home page, click the “Text Scam Complaints” button, fill out the details in the text scam complaints form, and click the submit button.
The public may also call NTC’s Consumer Hotline number (02) 8926-7722 for additional complaints, queries, and clarifications.
