The Quezon City government announced on Saturday, Oct. 1, that it had installed bike ramps at the Quezon Memorial Circle underpass and 40 other footbridges in the city.
According to the local government, the installation of bike ramps aims for safer and more convenient cycling as it claims to be a "bike-friendly city."
It said the project encourages the cyclists to utilize footbridges and provides them a suitable way to cross the roads to get to the bike lanes.
The city government also motivated the residents to ride bicycles for alternative transportation.
"Hinihikayat ng pamahalaang lungsod ang mga QCitizens na magbisikleta at gumamit ng alternative transportation dahil bukod sa eco-friendly at abot-kaya, ito ay nakapagpapabuti sa kalusugan bilang ehersisyo (The city government encourages QCitizens to ride bicycles and use alternative transportation because besides being eco-friendly and affordable, it improves health as exercise)," it said on a Facebook post.
The Quezon Memorial Circle is a 27-hectare park located inside a large traffic circle in the city, where people can enjoy fitness activities and recreation.
