Arcilla's performance in the film has brought him one of the most prestigious awards for acting which is the Volpi Cup at the 78th Venice International Film Festival back in 2021.

Upon finding out the news, Arcilla took the time to express his gratitude on an Instagram post. After announcing the entry for the Oscars Award, the film was also nominated for categories at the EMMY awards 2022.

"They said when it rains it pours. TODAY, “OTJ The Missing 8” is officially announced as the Philippines’ official entry to the OSCARS 2022, after the announcement of the EMY Nomination yesterday. To God be the Glory! Congratulations," Arcilla wrote on his Instagram.
