Easterlies to bring scattered rain showers, thunderstorms over eastern Luzon

The easterlies, or the warm and humid winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over six provinces in the eastern section of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Oct. 2.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains in Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ.

The public is advised to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Although no gale warning is in effect over the country’s seaboards as of Sunday, PAGASA still advised fisherfolk and seafarers to remain vigilant as moderate to rough seas may prevail over extreme Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the archipelago will have slight to moderate seas.
