Municipal gov’t employee in Nueva Vizcaya yields weapons stash


An employee of the municipal government of Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya was arrested for illegal possession of firearms on Saturday, Oct. 1.

A report from the office of Col. Dante Lubos, officer-in-charge, Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Elmer Peralta, 57, of Barangay Poblacion, Aritao.

The Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Field Unit-CIDG, Aritao police, and Provincial Mobile Force Company raided his house on a search warrant issued by Judge Paul R. Attolba, presiding judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 30 Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya dated Sept. 30, 2022 after authorities learned that he was keeping a stash of guns.

Police found one 60mm mortar bomb high explosive, two caliber .45 magazines, 45 9mm ammunition, one caliber .22, one Carbine 5.56 mm airsoft with magazine, Marksman 2004 airsoft, and a caliber .22 airsoft.

Peralta was arrested and taken to the police station. Suspect face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
