As a response to the widening learning gap among the new generation of learners brought about by school closures due to the pandemic, Edukasyon. ph has launched its newest product, the EDGE Tutor.

“Just a month after the opening of classes, many parents realized how far behind their child is against expectations for their age,” said VP of Tutorial Operations Cecilia Calvo.

In the Philippines, over 27 million children have experienced an interruption in their education due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

While the closure of schools further widened the learning gap, the challenge created an opportunity for the growth and development of digital education.

Recognizing this, Edukasyon.ph launched the EDGE Tutor which is a paid, on-demand K-12 live tutoring service in English, Math, and Tagalog for students in Kindergarten to Grade 10.

In May, EDGE Tutor piloted personalized one-to-one learning.

After its official launch, EDGE kicked off another phase by expanding to children aged 4 to 14.

This October, EDGE is introducing “Tagalog” as a new subject and offering more affordable “Barkada classes” for up to six students. It is now on its way to achieving 10,000 hours of classes taught within the quarter.

EDGE has just recently partnered with Children International to drive tutorial and remedial lessons to over 150 public school students and bring them up to speed in reading and math.

The program includes grade-level assessment, personalized, fun digital learning instruction, and a mobile load to ensure continued learning.

After the program, the initial assessments among the students showed learning improvements of 37 percent after only eight lessons, and 99 percent of students reported increased levels of confidence and enjoyment after the program.

“This partnership exemplifies how the private sector can have more active involvement in responding to the learning crisis in the country,” Edukasyon. ph said.

Calvo explained that Edukasyon. ph’s partnership with CIM showed the impact of remedial lessons on learners.

“Parents are beginning to see confidence and motivation drop and recognize October as the best time to get a tutor because it's early enough to change the course of the school year,” she added.

On the EDGE Tutor website, visitors can book a free 25-minute tutoring session on the subject of their choice. After the free trial session, parents can choose a package for their children.

To ensure the quality of the program, EDGE combines great teachers and a world-class curriculum developed by experts and used by EDGE Tutor students in North America, Europe, and Asia.

The curriculum is also aligned with the standards of the Department of Education (DepEd) and crafted to be globally competitive in one easy-to-use platform.

Edukasyon. ph Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Henry Motte-Muñoz said that they now have partnerships with various groups for its programs.

Meanwhile, Edukasyon.ph Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Grace David said that the program is “how the private sector can have more active involvement in responding to the learning crisis in the country.” She also expressed hope that “more are encouraged to do the same.”
