BACOLOD CITY - Legendary billiard champ Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes will be joining the 1st ‘Mayor Albee Benitez MassKara Festival 2022 10-Ball Open Billiard Tournament’ slated from Oct. 2 to Oct. 6 at the SM City Bacolod North Atrium Ground.

Django Bustamante, Jonas Magpantay, Marvin Asis Pastor, and Panfilo Damuag, Jr. are also taking part in the tournament where the champion stands to bring home P350,000 and the runner-up will P100,000.
Third and fourth placers will also take home P50,000 each, while the fifth to the eight place will get P15,000 each.
There is also a ‘no entry fee, no play’ policy since there is a P2,500 registration fee for the competitors. Dress code and wearing of face masks for both the players and the spectators was also issued.
Festival Director Pinky Mirano-Ocampo said the billiards, tchoukball, and football matches are among the numerous sports tournaments that will make this festival unique.
The five-day tournament was only limited to 128 players. They will play under the format of bracket double elimination system for 128 players and onwards to the top 64 single knock-out system.
Meanwhile, more than 100 football clubs joined the 1st MassKara Football Tournament which kicked off on Oct. 1 and will end on Oct. 2 at the La Provincia Open Field and the Panaad Football Field.
A Malaysian football team headed by Malaysian sports journalist, Tony Mariadass graced the opening of the football cup and conducted football clinics. The Malaysians brought with them 30 footballs to donate to the clubs.
The MassKara Tchoukball 1-day tournament was held on Oct. 1 at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School. The 1st Mayor Albee Volleyball Tournament’s elimination round already took place on Oct. 1 and will be concluded on Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Montalbo Volleyball Court in Barangay 40. The final rounds are set Oct. 6-9 in the same venue.
