Valenzuela City approves home quarantine for fully vaccinated, asymptomatic COVID-19 patients

Fully vaccinated residents in Valenzuela City who tested positive for COVID-19 and those asymptomatic or with mild to moderate symptoms can now quarantine at their own home.

The city government said home quarantine will only be allowed for individuals with Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) swab test dates starting Jan. 8.

Patients who will be isolated are required to have their own rooms (roommates are not allowed), bathrooms, and personal belongings (e.g. beds, utensils, and hygiene kits).

They must complete the 10-day isolation or the number of days advised by their doctors, and are reminded to immediately contact the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) should they experience severe symptoms.

Those who live with the patients and close contacts should also undergo RT-PCR tests.

Their homes will be placed on lockdown while waiting for the results or if everyone in the household are confirmed positive with the virus.

Officials from the CESU will monitor and conduct surprise inspections to make sure that patients follow the home quarantine protocols.

The certificate of quarantine can be claimed from the CESU.

It added that residents who does not have their own rooms, or who prefer to stay in isolation facilities may contact the CESU for assistance.

The approval of the home quarantine is due to the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in the city.

As of Jan. 7, the city has recorded 1,681 COVID-19 active cases out of 37,671 total confirmed cases, with 850 deaths and 35,140 recoveries.
