According to Dr. Juancho Bunyi, CHO head, the medical workforce in the Muntinlupa City government reduced after several of them were exposed and tested positive for COVID-19.

The city-run Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) reached 100 percent full bed capacity on Jan. 9. A number of hospital employees also tested positive for COVID-19.

On Jan. 8, Muntinlupa’s active COVID-19 cases rose to 1,293, the first time since Sept. 30 that the total breached the 1,000 mark.

Muntinlupa recorded 363 new cases for the day to bring the total active cases to 1,293 out of 28,629 confirmed cases, 27,079 recoveries and 581 deaths. The total active cases increased by 324, or 33 percent, from 969 active cases on Jan. 7.

Amid the threat of the highly transmissible Omicron variant, the Muntinlupa City government appealed to the public to strictly follow minimum public health standards including wearing of face masks outside residence, observing physical distancing and handwashing.

The city government, Muntinlupa police, CHO and barangays intensified the implementation of rules under Alert Level 3 including restricting the movement of unvaccinated individuals.
