Lacson thanks Isko, supporters for wishing him speedy recovery from COVID-19
Presidential aspirant Senator Panfilo Lacson on Sunday thanked fellow public servants and his supporters for sending him “get well soon” messages and expressions of concern after he tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Lacson, among those who sent their well wishes to him were fellow presidential aspirant Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go and Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
Lacson said Moreno, who is also running for president in the upcoming May 2022 elections, even offered him “molnupiravir,’ the antiviral pill believed to be effective against COVID-19.
However, the senator said he declined the offer saying he would rather leet him distribute it to his constituents or other citizens who are going to need it more.
“(My reply to him (Moreno) was, ‘I already have (the medicine) because a lot of people also sent me. Please give it to those who are experiencing severe symptoms. So, thank you very much,” Lacson said in an interview over Radio DZRH.
Lacson tested positive of the coronavirus disease on January 6 after his exposure to his eldest son and chief of staff, who was the first to be infected in his family.
He said his wife, their house helper and his driver also tested positive but only experienced mild symptoms and are now recovering.
Lacson, chair and standard bearer of Partido Reporma, said the positive vibes of those who gave him messages cheered up and eased whatever anxiety he and his family members felt the moment they got infected.
While observing his quarantine, the senator said he would often hear the sirens of ambulances passing by their neighborhood and would pray quietly that whoever was inside it would receive the medical attention he or she needed.
“My first prayer would be, I hope it is not serious; and second, I hope the patient would find a hospital that would admit him or her, there’s a ward, there’s a room and I hope he or she would be out of harm’s way—whoever was inside the ambulance,” said Lacson.
