In an announcement posted on the team’s official page on Sunday, Jan. 9, V33Wise and the Blacklist management have mutually agreed that the two will skip the upcoming season to take the ‘much-needed break’ especially after a series of grueling title runs last year.

“The Blacklist International management and its star players OhMyV33nus and Wise mutually agreed that the two will skip the upcoming MPL-PH Season 9,” Blacklist said in the statement.

“The V33Wise tandem has nothing left to prove to our organization as they have exceeded all our expectations in their first year in Blacklist International,” it added.

In their first year with Blacklist, the duo became a vital cog in the three successful championship runs of the team in MPL PH Seasons 7 and 8 and the M3 World Championship. With the two at the forefront, Blacklist was able to compete in five Grand Finals last year and runner-up finishes in the MPL Invitational and Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup.

The two has been in the league since Season 4 when the then-newly formed Onic Philippines took the MPL PH by storm. After series of heartbreaks with back-to-back runner-up finishes in MPL PH S4 and S5, the duo was traded to Blacklist and brought the team to the promise land for the first time in S7. Since then, the two became the core players of one of the most dominant teams in MLBB Esports.

The task to complete an unprecedented three-peat in S9 now falls at the hands of M3 champion trio led by M3 MVP Kiel “Oheb Soriano, Salic “Hadji” Imam and Edward “Edward” Dapadap although the two remain with Blacklist and expected to return by Season 10.

“Both the players and the management agreed that this is the perfect time to take their much-needed break that will better equip them for another run in season 10 and a chance to defend our world championship title,” Blacklist added.

“The duo will remain under the management of Tier One Entertainment and they are excited to use this break to pursue personal goals and spend more quality time with their families. V33Wise wishes to thank everyone, especially the V33Wise Fam and Blacklist Agents, for the unconditional love and support they’ve been receiving ever since.”
