Valenzuela City gov't issues guidelines limiting mobility of unvaccinated residents
The Valenzuela City local government on Friday, Jan. 7, released the guidelines that will limit the mobility of individuals who are not vaccinated yet against COVID-19.
Under the Ordinance 976 Series of 2022 signed by Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Jan. 4, residents who have yet to get jabbed must stay inside their homes except when purchasing essential goods and services.
They are allowed to do individual outdoor exercises as long as it is within the general area of their residences.
Going out for leisure or trips in malls, sports and country clubs, or hotels, dining in restaurants (both indoor and outdoor), physically attending events, domestic travels through land, sea or air are not allowed (except for essential purposes) for the unvaccinated.
Workers should also undergo Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests every two weeks and must present a negative result to be admitted for onsite work (rapid antigen tests may be utilized in case RT-PCR tests are not immediately available).
Residents caught violating the ordinance will be fined P500 on the first offense, P1,000 for the second time, and 2,000 for the third offense.
The ordinance also stated that penalties for corporations, partnerships, or entities found violating the provisions will be:
First offense - A fine of P1,000 or imprisonment of not more than one month
Second offense - P3,000 fine or imprisonment of not more two months but not less than one month
Third offense - P5,000 fine or imprisonment of not more than three months but not less than two month
General managers, presidents, or persons acting in behalf of the corporations or partnerships shall be held liable, and individuals or establishments falsifying COVID-19 vaccination cards will also be punished, it added.
The local government urged the unvaccinated resident to visit the vaccination sites in the city to get jabbed against the virus.
