The Marikina City local government announced on Saturday, Jan. 8, that the city has recorded 1,116 active COVID-19 cases as of Jan. 7.
Barangay Concepcion Uno topped the COVID-19 tally list with 149 active cases followed by Concepcion Dos with 135.
Barangay Sta. Elena has the lowest active cases with 25 recorded.
All active cases will undergo another swab tests after their 14-day isolation.
Meanwhile, the LGU will also conduct contact tracing to identify all the close contacts of patients afflicted with COVID-19.
The city government encouraged its residents to avoid going outside their homes unless necessary.
Residents are also reminded to follow the minimum health protocols standardized by the Department of Health (DOH): Wash hands with soap and water or with 70% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol; wear masks with minimum of three-ply layers, and maintain six feet or two meters of distance from each other when in public.
"Nasa atin pong pagsunod sa minimum health protocols ang pagkaligtas natin mula sa COVID-19 (Our safety from COVID-19 lies in our ability to follow minimum health protocols)," the local government said.
As of Jan. 7, Marikina City had 27,249 confirmed cases, 25,455 recoveries, and 668 deaths.(Cherrylin Caacbay)
