Over 1,000 active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Pasig City, the city government announced on Friday, Jan. 7.
The number of infections in the city went up by 423 in just one day, bringing the total tally to 1,082 on Jan. 7. A day before, the city government announced 659 active COVID-19 cases.

Most of the cases are concentrated in Barangays Manggahan (116), Sta. Lucia (86), Ugong (85), Pinagbuhatan (83), Rosario (82), and San Miguel (64).
In his Facebook post, Mayor Vico Sotto said many Pasig medical workers are under quarantine, the reason why some vaccination sites are not open in the city.
“However, we are unable to scale up or open more sites due to the lack of manpower. Marami po sa mga health staff natin ay naka-quarantine (Many of our health staff are under quarantine),” said Sotto.
He added that the city government accommodated only 1,500 individuals per vaccination site on Friday.
