No new deaths but Bulacan sees spike in COVID-19 cases


The Provincial Health Office (PHO) in Bulacan on Thursday, Jan. 6, logged 772 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total confirmed cases in the province to 93,838.

The PHO said there were 90,499 recoveries and no reported death. The death toll in the province remains at 1,484.

The PHO said from 1,275 COVID-19 active cases recorded in Bulacan on Wednesday, Jan. 5, it rose to 1,855. Of this number, 653 are asymptomatic, 1,088 mild and moderate, 114 severe, and no critical case.

The PHO said that of the 1,855 active cases, 117 are admitted in the hospital, 17 are in a Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility, while 1,721 are under home isolation.

The 10 areas with the highest number of active cases are the City of San Jose Del Monte with 349; City of Malolos with 321; Marilao with 163; Sta Maria with 136; Bocaue with 113; Guiguinto with 107; Plaridel with 104; City of Meycauyan with 95; Balagtas with 71, and Bulakan with 52.

Gov. Daniel R. Fernando has requested Col. Manuel M. Lukban Jr., Bulacan police director, to order the police commanders in the three cities and 21 municipalities in the province to conduct mobile patrolling and to remind Bulakenyos to strictly follow the minimum public health standards like the wearing of face masks and observing social distancing.
