Member of notorious criminal group arrested in Pasay City


A member of notorious criminal group Lalaine Sagumban involved in robbery holdup and illegal drug activities in the cities of Pasay, Makati, and Manila was arrested on Thursday night (Jan. 6) in Pasay City.

Col. Cesar Paday-os, Pasay City police chief, identified the suspect as Lariz Guevarra, 29, a construction worker and resident of Pasay City.

Paday-os said Guevarra was arrested at about 6:00 p.m. along Kamagong St.,Barangay 145, Zone 16, Pasay City by members of the Intelligence Section in possession of an improvised handgun.

He said prior to the arrest, members of the Intelligence Section received a telephone call regarding an alleged illegal drug transaction along Barangay Sto. Nino, Pasay City.

The city police said the criminal group scampered into different directions upon the arrival of the police while Guevarra was cornered. Recovered from him was an improvised homemade handgun loaded with one live ammunition of a .45 caliber pistol.

Paday-os said Guevarra was charged for illegal possession of firearms and violation of city ordinance for not wearing a face mask.

He also said the confiscated firearm was turned over to the Southern Police District (SPD) Forensic Unit for ballistic examination.
