Manila LGU continues relief ops in Odette-hit areas

The City of Manila continues its relief operations for the victims of super typhoon “Odette,” this time in the provinces of Southern Leyte, Cebu, Surigao del Norte, and Palawan.

On Thursday, Jan. 6, Diana Lynn Ditan-Domagoso, wife of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, led the distribution of relief goods in Barangays Tampoong and Cabulihan in Southern Leyte.

“Personal ko pong gustong makita ang inyong kalagayan at napakasuwerte ko po dahil kahit papano nasa maayos kayong kundisyon (I wanted to see your situation personally and it is fortunate that you are in good condition),” said Mrs. Domagoso.

Prior to her relief operations in Southern Leyte, Mrs. Domagoso also led operations in Loboc, Bohol on Dec. 22 and in Antique on Dec. 28.

Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) volunteers, in collaboration with the Cebu City Fire Volunteers, on Tuesday, Jan. 4 and Wednesday, Jan. 5, were able to supply water to Barangays Apas and Maracas in Cebu City, Cebu, while other MDRRMO volunteers assisted in the clearing of fallen trees in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Meanwhile, members of Mayor Domagoso’s “Operation Tabang” team were also present in Puerto Princesa, Palawan from Monday, Jan. 3, to Tuesday, Jan. 4, to distribute relief goods to residents of Barangays Langonan, Binduyan, Concepcion, Tanabag, San Rafael, Babuyan, Maoyan, Lucbuan, Maruguyon, Manalo, and Salvacion.

Members of the “Operation Tabang” team, on Monday, Jan. 3, to Tuesday, Jan. 4, also distributed tents and relief packs to Barangays Washington, Luna, Taft, Talisay, and San Jose in Surigao City.
