CHED Chairman De Vera tests positive for COVID-19
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Popoy De Vera has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and is currently under quarantine.

De Vera said that as part of the regular health protocols established at home and in the office, he recently got tested for COVID-19.
“This morning, I received the result of my test, which showed that I am COVID-19 positive,” De Vera said in a Facebook post on Jan. 6.
“I am currently experiencing mild symptoms,” he added.
Related to this, De Vera advised those who were in direct contact with him for the past few days “to go on self-quarantine, monitor for any symptoms, and get tested if needed.”
De Vera also shared that he received a booster shot on Jan. 3.
“I urge everyone to get their booster shots or get vaccinated as soon as possible to reduce the risk of infection and help protect against severe illness and hospitalization due to COVID,” he added.
Last October, De Vera announced his decision not to run for senator in the 2022 elections noting that the pandemic and his personal experience with COVID-19 infection “made me take a step back and realize that family and health are paramount.”
