CHED allows 56 private HEIs to increase tuition, other school fees for AY 2021-2022

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) approved 56 private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to increase their tuition and other school fees for Academic Year (AY) 2021-2022.

CHED released the official consolidated list of private HEIs with approved applications to increase tuition and other school fees (TOSF) for AY 2021 - 2022 through a memorandum signed by CHED Chairperson J. Prospero De Vera III on Dec. 6, 2021.

It was issued to CHED officials, Regional Offices, and Presidents/Heads of private universities and colleges nationwide.

De Vera said that the approval of the applications of the 56 HEIs to increase TOSF was under the pertinent provisions of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 03, s. 2013 and Memorandum from the Office of the Chairperson dated March 24, 2021, regarding the guidelines on the recalibration of Miscellaneous and Other School Fees (MOSF) during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The list was also approved based on the reports on the application of private HEIs (PHEIs) for the increase in tuition and other school fees of fifteen (15) CHED Regional Offices (CHEDROs) and by virtue of Commission en Banc (CEB) Resolution Nos. 645-2021 dated Oct. 12, 2021, and 683-2021 dated Nov. 9, 2021.

Based on the consolidated list released by CHED, private universities and colleges HEIs in 11 regions have been allowed to increase their TOSF: Region 1 (eight HEIs); Region III (seven HEIs); Region IV - (three HEIs); Region V (five HEIs); Region VI (four HEIs); Region VII (one HEI); Region IX (one HEI); Region X (nine HEIs); Region XI (three HEIs); and CAR (one HEI).

In the National Capital Region (NCR), CHED allowed a hike in tuition and other school fees for 14 HEIs.

Here's the list of HEIs approved by CHED to increase TOSF for this academic year:

CHED said that the national average rate of increase in tuition per unit is 4.74 percent (P29.15).

The national average rate for other school fees is 10.61 percent (P50.51).
