Bongbong apologizes for no-show in Comelec hearing due to sore throat, fever

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has apologized for not attending the Commission on Elections (Comelec) preliminary conference on the disqualification petitions against him.

In a statement Friday, his camp said Marcos Jr., through his close friend and former congressman Anton Lagdameo, "apologized to the poll body, particularly to Presiding Judge Rowena Guanzon, for the inconvenience, if any, caused by his failure to attend the prelude to the disposition of the cases."

Marcos Jr.'s absence was caused by his speaking difficulty due to "a painfully congested throat" and fever, his medical certificate read.

Prior to this, the presidential aspirant got exposed to two individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.

"Upon examination, he had a temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius, and his throat was hyperemic and swollen," his physician stated.

"I recommended that he take Bioflu for his fever and congestion, Immunpro or Conzace whichever was available, and diphenhydramine for its sedating effect. We have been in close communication for updates through the phone hence," his physician added.
