After 36 years, Ciara Sotto revives iconic EDSA people power song 'Magkaisa'

Ciara Sotto went back to the recording studio for the song "Magkaisa," the iconic tune associated with the People Power Revolution in 1986.

On Instagram Jan. 7, Ciara is hopeful that the public will love her version of "Magkaisa" which was composed by her dad Sen. Tito Sotto III.

Ciara also shared on social media some behind-the-scenes photos of her latest recording done before Christmas 2021.

The original version was recorded by Virna Lisa. Covers of "Magkaisa" were also released by Regine Velasquez and Sarah Geronimo, who sang the popular song at the funeral of former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino.

"The original will always be the best, but I hope that you will find a special place in your hearts to rekindle your love for this memorable song with me," said Ciara.

No date has been set for the release of Ciara's version of the song.

"Before Christmas, God gave me the opportunity to work on a very special song, with all these OPM legends that I’m very blessed to have as family and friends.

"Thank you to my Tita Babsie Molina, my voice teacher- @kitchymolina , and my Tito @moyvortiz for agreeing to sing with me. Thank you to Boss Dante and Kuya Jervy for being very patient and talented sound engineers. Thank you so much Tito @homerflores2 , for the magnificent arrangement, you truly are the best! And most of all, thank you Daddy @helenstito, for choosing me to revive this iconic song which you wrote 36 years ago.

"I will forever be grateful for this blessing, to be able to sing this with the original composer, arranger, & background vocals. I sang this with much devotion, and with a prayer in my heart for our country and its future.

"I hope all of you will like the new version of this song. I’ve always loved it, and the original will always be the best, but I hope that you will find a special place in your hearts to rekindle your love for this memorable song with me. #magkaisa"

Tito Sen is running for vice president in tandem with presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson Sr. under Partido Reporma in the 2022 national elections.
