The Pasay City’s lone public hospital, the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH), has reached full capacity and will no longer admit severe and critical COVID-19 patients.
Dr. John Victor De Gracia, PCGH officer-in-charge, announced on Thursday, Jan. 6, that the hospital’s confirmed ICU beds, ward beds, ER isolation rooms, and ER anteroom reached full capacity at around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
De Gracia said aside from not accepting admissions for COVID-19 patients, the hospital will also stop admitting non-COVID-19 cases due to the shortage of manpower.
He said about 44 health care workers (HCWs), mostly nurses and ancillary personnel with close contact exposure and were infected and symptomatic, are now in isolation and waiting for their swab test results.
The hospital’s OIC said only extreme emergency and life-threatening surgical procedures will be accepted at the hospital.
De Gracia also said the out- patient department (OPD) will be doing Telemedicine to help those who are in need of medical advice.
He added that vaccination for pediatric population being done at the hospital will be suspended for 10 days.
“Please bear with us as this situation is beyond our control but rest assured that the present admitted patients will be managed well with the existing manpower,” De Gracia said.
He added that once the 44 HCWs have fully recovered, the hospital will resume its normal operations.
