The total number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Muntinlupa shot up to 732 on Jan. 6.
Data from the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) showed that on Jan. 6, Muntinlupa added 288 new cases to bring the total active cases to 732.

Of the 288 new cases, Bgy. Putatan recorded the highest with 79 followed by Poblacion, 49; Tunasan, 40; Alabang, 34; Sucat, 33; Bayanan, 18; Ayala Alabang and Cupang, 15 each; and Buli, five.
By active cases, Putatan also has the highest with 154 followed by Tunasan, 101; Ayala Alabang, 97; Cupang, 95; Poblacion, 88; Sucat, 79; Alabang, 67; Bayanan, 39; and Buli, 12.
The total active cases are higher by 273 cases, or an increase of 59 percent, from 459 tallied on Jan. 5. There are now 28,098 confirmed cases, 27,059 recoveries and 580 deaths in Muntinlupa to date.
From Jan. 1 to 6, Muntinlupa’s active cases rose from 131 to 732, or by 601 cases. During the period, Muntinlupa added 644 new COVID-19 cases from 27,742 confirmed cases to 28,386.
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 17,220 new COVID-19 cases in the country on Jan. 6 to bring the total active cases to 56,561.
Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Muntinlupa City government reminded people to strictly follow minimum public health standards including wearing of face masks, physical distancing and frequent handwashing.
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) placed the National Capital Region (NCR) under Alert Level 3 from Jan. 3 to 15 due to the threat of the Omicron variant.
Metro Manila mayors including Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi signed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Resolution 22-01 on Jan. 3 urging local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila to pass ordinances to restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals.
