Muntinlupa City distributes P20-M financial assistance to LGUs hit by 'Odette'
The Muntinlupa City government has started distributing its P20 million financial assistance to local government units (LGUs) devastated by typhoon “Odette” last December.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and members of the City Council signed and passed City Ordinance No. 2021-303 last December, allotting P20 million financial assistance to 38 LGUs affected by the typhoon.

The assistance was taken from the Quick Response Fund of the Muntinlupa City government’s Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (LDRRM).
Representatives from the Muntinlupa City government turned over the funds to the LGUs including Rose Geli, Atty. Nemei Santiago, Cynthia Viacrusis, Atty. Harley Padolina, Lorna Misa, and Randy Garcia.
LGUs which received P500,000 each from the Muntinlupa City government are the municipalities of Argao, Dalaguete, Dumanjug and Tuburan in Cebu; city government of Bais, Negros Oriental; city government of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental; municipality of Manjuyod, Negros Oriental; municipality of Ilog, Negros Occidental; city government of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental; and municipality of Socorro, Surigao del Norte.
Under the ordinance, P1 million each will be given to the provincial governments of Dinagat Islands and Siargao in Surigao del Norte. The remaining 36 LGU beneficiaries will get P500,000 each which were identified by the Muntinlupa city government and the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
The 10 LGU beneficiaries chosen by the Muntinlupa City government are Maasin, Leyte; Buenavista, Bohol; Dumanjug and Catmon in Cebu; Bais, Himamaylan and Kabankalan in Negros Oriental; and Dumaran, Roxas and San Vicente in Palawan.
The other LGU beneficiaries identified by the OVP are Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, General Luna, Pilar, San Benito, San Isidro, Santa Monica and Socorro in Surigao Del Norte; Basilisa (Rizal), Cagdianao, Dinagat, Libjo (Albor), Loreto, San Jose and Tubajon in Dinagat; Javier and Baybay in Leyte; Balilihan and Tubigon in Bohol; Dalaguete, Tuburan and Argao in Cebu; and Manjuyod, Hinobaan and Ilog in Negros Oriental.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Dec. 31 that 405 persons died due to typhoon “Odette” while 1,147 were injured and 82 were missing.
