Muay thai fighter Philip Delarmino represented the country anew after being nominated as World Games Athlete of the Year.

Delarmino is among the 24 candidates selected in the world to be named 2021 Athlete of the Year as announced both by the World Games and the Muaythai Association of the Philippines (MAP).
"The FIRST Filipino athlete to be nominated and to represent Muaythai in the World Games Athlete of the Year!!!" wrote MAP on its social media page.
Per the World Games, voting starts on Jan. 10, Monday on a daily basis through its website. Two athletes can be voted once every 24 hours.
Only the Top 10 candidates until Jan. 23 will move further to another round while the final voting will end on Jan. 30.
​The 31-year-old Delarmino ruled the 57kgs senior elite male category of the 2021 IFMA World Muay Thai Championships last month in Phuket, Thaila​​nd.
Delarmino, also the reigning Southeast Asian Games champion, bested Russian opponent Aleksandr Abramov in the final to capture the title.
