BTS cancels US trip after 64th Grammy Awards show postponed
K-pop superstars BTS cancelled their trip to the US after the 64th Grammy Awards show was postponed.
The 64th Annual Grammy Awards show was originally scheduled to be held on Jan. 31 at Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles.
However, due to the rising number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the US including the threat of the Omicron variant, the Recording Academy and CBS decided to postpone it.

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show,” according to a joint statement by the Recording Academy and CBS.
They added, “The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority.”
“Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon,” the Academy and CBS added.
At the 6th Grammy Awards, BTS got nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Butter.” Other nominees are "I Get a Kick Out of You" by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, "Lonely" by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco, "Higher Power" by Coldplay and "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat featuring SZA.
Big Hit Music, BTS’ agency, announced on Jan. 6 that the group’s flight to the US has been cancelled following the Grammy Awards postponement.
"BTS had planned to attend the Grammys, but after being informed of the postponement, we have halted all plans including the members heading to America," a representative from Big Hit Music told Korean media, according to SBS News.
The representative added, "At the moment, there are no schedule changes to BTS' upcoming Seoul concert in March."
