Bautista issues memo on financial support, aid to DSWD employees affected by 'Odette'

Employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who were affected by the onslaught of typhoon Odette will not be left in the cold, as the government intensified its disaster response operations.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista ordered the provision of financial support and material assistance to their affected personnel through the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS).

The financial and material aid was contained in a memorandum issued by Bautista on Dec. 27.

The issuance of the memorandum is in consonance with the DSWD Administrative Order No. 20, series of 2018 or the Enhanced Mechanism on Promoting Occupational Wellbeing and Employee Reinvigoration (EMPOWER), the DSWD noted.

“The DSWD commits to support the welfare of its employees while continuing its relief operations to disaster areas,” read the department’s statement issued on Thursday.

The Crisis Intervention Sections of the DSWD Field Offices, and Social Welfare Assistance Desks were tasked to facilitate the provision of assistance to the employees, based on the assessment of the concerned social worker and following the existing guidelines of AICS.

The DSWD said its Disaster Response Management Group and Field Office counterparts were providing food and non-food items to the affected personnel, as part of the agency’s responsive alternative support or workplace interventions.
