More than 25,000 minors aged 12 to 17 years old have been fully vaccinated in Muntinlupa amid the rise in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the city.
Data from the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) showed that as of Jan. 4, a total of 25,638 minors have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, or 46.3 percent of the estimated total population of 55,391 for 12 to 17 years old in the city.
The total is an increase of 2,802 persons from 22,836 fully vaccinated minors recorded last Dec. 26.
Tunasan has the highest full vaccination rate with 3,867 minors out of 6,256 target population, or 62 percent, while Ayala Alabang, which has jurisdiction over the posh Ayala Alabang Village, has the lowest rate at 12 percent with only 303 minors now fully vaccinated out of the target population of 2,560.
The full vaccination rates of other barangays are: Alabang, 40 percent (2,890 fully vaccinated minors); Bayanan, 52.6 percent (2,101); Buli, 30.8 percent (419); Cupang, 51 percent (2,973); Poblacion, 53.43 percent (35.5 percent); Putatan, 53.43 percent (5,431); and Sucat, 50.87 percent (2,922).
In addition, 27,551 minors have received the first dose of the vaccine, or 49.7 percent of the target population.
The number of minors aged 12 to 17 who have registered with the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) has reached 44,469 or 80 percent of the target population.
Meanwhile, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Muntinlupa rose sharply to 422 as of Jan. 4, an increase of 127 cases, or 43 percent, from 295 active cases recorded on Jan. 3.
On Jan. 4, Muntinlupa recorded 131 new COVID-19 cases. Bgy. Cupang has the highest number of new cases with 32, followed by Ayala Alabang and Putatan with 20 each; Tunasan, 16; Poblacion, 12; Sucat, 11; Bayanan, 5; and Buli, 3.
