Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian announced on Wednesday, Jan. 5, that he tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post, Gatchalian said that the result came after a routine work safety testing at the city hall.
"I am manifesting very mild symptoms and will continue to discharge my responsibilities as City Mayor from one of the City's isolation units where I am currently under mandatory quarantine," the mayor said.
"Rest assured the services of City Hall will continue without any hitches,” he added.
According to Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja and the management team of the city hall will help him run the affairs of the city.
