Marikina LGU to require face shields in vaccination centers

The Marikina City government announced on Wednesday, Jan. 5, that it will now require the wearing of face shields for those who are going to the city’s vaccination centers.

The Marikina Public Information (PIO) said the city is reviving the mandatory use of face shields in vaccination centers due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

On Dec 31, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) placed the National Capital Region under Alert Level 3 from Jan. 3 to 15 due to the fast-spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The Palace, on Dec. 1, declared the voluntary use of face shields in areas under Alert Levels 1 to 3. However, the use of face shields may be required by establishments or employers.

The country remains under high-risk classification as its average daily COVID-19 cases increased to 3,000 this week, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
