At least 85 percent of patients in the Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) are unvaccinated, a physician from the hospital said Tuesday, Jan. 4.

In an interview with TeleRadyo, Dr. Norberto Francisco, a pulmonary medicine specialist, said a steady rise in COVID-19 admissions is seen in LCP.
"The past two to three days malaki ho talaga yung itinaas. Kasi ho naglalaro lang between five to eight COVID-19 patients ang laman ng ospital. Ganun lang kakonti. tataas nang konti, hindi ho lalagpas ng mga 10 (The past two to three days there have been an huge increase. Because in the month of December, the hospital only had between five to eight COVID-19 patients. If it increases a little, it won't go beyond 10)," Francisco said.
"And then the past two days, nag-jack (it jacked) up to 15, the following day, 25, and then today, this morning, 30. So clearly we're seeing the increase in cases over the past few days only," he added.
Francisco said there are currently 56 beds reserved for COVID-19 patients in LCP.
"Pag kasagsagan ho ng COVID pumapalo yan ng mga 150 beds or above. So we have the room to expand. But of course, pinagdadasal natin na wag nang mangyari ito dahil mahihirapan na naman tayo (We allocate over 150 beds to COVID-19 patients when there's a surge. So we have a room to expand. But of course, we're praying that it doesn't happen again because we will have a hard time again)," he added.
The specialist also noted that 85 percent of COVID-19 patients in LCP are unvaccinated.
"Talagang majority po mga hindi fully vaccinated (Majority of our patients are not fully vaccinated)," Francisco said.
