Remulla: Robredo's 'lack of ground work' comment on Lacson an injustice

CAVITE – Governor Jonvic Remulla defended Senator Panfilo Lacson after Vice President Leni Robredo said that the Caviteño presidential aspirant lacks work on the ground.

"Hindi ko na sana balak makipag-balitaktakan pa pagdating sa #Halalan2022. Ngunit bilang kamag-anak, kalalawigan at kapwa Imuseño / Caviteño ay nararapat lamang na tumayo ako at ipagtanggol si Senador Ping Lacson (I didn't plan to engage in discussions on the 2022 elections. But as a relative and fellow Imuseño and Caviteño, it's just right that I stand up and defend Sen. Ping Lacson)," Remulla wrote on a Facebook post on Monday (Jan. 31) he titled "Kakamping."

According to Remulla, Lacson is the candidate with the most experience in public service. The governor recounted the positions Lacson held since he graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1971.

"To describe him as 'all talk and no action' is an injustice to the man who embodies 'leadership by example' with 50 years of public service from law enforcement, legislation and humanitarian work," Remulla said.

"Sana maalala ni VP Leni ang aking payo sa kanya (I hope VP Leni remembers my advice to her): That no matter what happens, please do not give in to the hate," Remulla continued.

"The same goes to her supporters. The best way to champion your candidate or political stand is not through hate. You can never convince other people to join your cause if all you do is look down, insult, ridicule, and alienate those who do not share the same views as you."

In November, Remulla welcomed Robredo and vice-presidential aspirant Senator Kiko Pangilinan in the Cavite Provincial Capitol in Trece Martires, when the tandem visited various local government units in the vote-rich province.

Remulla said that although they disagree on certain issues, they agree that the people deserve a "leader the Filipinos can be proud of." The governor also said that before they parted, he asked Robredo not to give in to hate no matter what happens.

Earlier this January, Remulla said he believes presidential aspirant and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will win in Cavite and that being a president is Marcos' destiny.
