Filipinos all over the country will be given access to clean and potable water if he wins in the upcoming 2022 May elections, said presidential hopeful and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

“The data will show us that 97 percent of the population is connected and has access to clean potable water in Metro Manila. In the likes of Northern Luzon, for example, 33 percent are not connected to clean water. In the South, 57 percent are not connected and don’t have an access to clean potable water,” Domagoso said during the presentation of his 10-point “Bilis Kilos” economic agenda on Monday, Jan. 31.
“When we say clean potable water, it's that there are facilities that are not existing, whether you have a dam or not, but the people, the consumer walang access sa (has no access) clean water,” he said.
If elected as president, Domagoso said he would push for the construction of more infrastructures, adding he is also hoping that private sectors will help him in order to give opportunity to every household to have access to clean and safe water.
“Challenge of having a dam, in the case of the Philippines, pag tag-init talaga, hirap na hirap tayo makaipon ng sapat (it is hard for us to get enough water supply during summer),” he said.
The Manila mayor, however, assured that should there be new technologies available that will help in providing enough supply and a clean source of water, he would pursue it.
“Kung paano? Sisinupin sa langit, pano, sisinupin sa bundok, (How will we do it? We may collect the rains from the sky and the water coming from the mountains). I think we must secure our people with clean water.”
Domagoso’s 10-point economic agenda also includes the construction of more roads, improving access to internet, ensuring a stable and affordable supply of electricity, and pursuing zero water pollution by 2028.
