Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst jumps to her death from New York apartment

Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst died after she reportedly jumped from her Manhattan apartment in New York. She was 30.

Kryst's family confirmed her death on the Today Show. The statement read:

“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength.

“She cared, she loved, she laughed, and she shined. Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on 'Extra.' But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on," the statement read.

Police said Kryst, 30, was found unconscious and unresponsive on the ground outside the address 350 West 42nd Street in Manhattan.

The report said that EMS was called, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is indicative of a jump from an elevated position.

Hours before hear death, Kryst posted a photo on Instagram. It was captioned: "May this day bring you rest and peace."

Extra also shared its condolences with Kryst's family and friends.

"Our hearts are broken. Cheslie was not just a vital part of our show, she was a beloved part of our 'Extra' family and touched the entire staff," the statement read.

Kryst represented USA at the 2019 Miss Universe beauty pageant. She finished in the top 10. As a TV host, she received nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan wrote: "Rest peacefully sister. The world will miss you and the light you shone so bright."

Miss Canada 2016 Siera Bearchell said: "An angel who will be so greatly missed."
