Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Aimee Ferolino has appealed to Commissioner Rowena Guanzon to stop conditioning the minds of the people that there is a delay in the release of the resolution on the consolidated disqualification cases of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

"As a co-equal member of this Commission, I am asking you to please stop conditioning the minds of the people that there is a delay because there is none. As a matter of fact, it took more than one month from Nov. 26, 2021, Preliminary Conference of the other Marcos case for the Second Division to promulgate a resolution," she said in a Memoramdum dated Jan. 31.
Guanzon, the presiding Commissioner of the Comelec First Division, earlier issued a memorandum to Ferolino asking her to submit an explanation on the delay in the release of the latter's Ponencia.
Ferolino stressed that there is no delay in the release of her Ponencia.
"With all due respect, there is nothing to explain because I do not submit to your pronouncement that there is a delay in the release of my Ponencia on the Marcos cases," she said.
"I am taking my time reviewing the case records because I do not want my Ponencia to resemble your Memorandum that dates Jan.29, 2021, which is on its face erroneous. While you have the privilege and the liberty to take down your posts and correct it, I am not afforded the same opportunity should I release a flawed resolution especially when it has already been promulgated," added Ferolino.
"Further, I am judiciously scrutinizing all the attached evidence and understand the substance of these documents so that these will be rightfully appreciated in the process of penning the Ponencia," she said.
Ferolino also emphasized that the petitions were raffled to her office, on Jan. 10 and that it was only on Jan. 14 that the petitions were submitted for resolution.
"When I learned on Twitter that you set the date of promulgation on Jan. 17, 2022, and it will be broadcasted live on Facebook I honestly told you that my Ponencia is not yet available. Yet you told me that I and my lawyers should work 24-hours and 'walang tulugan' to finish it. I cannot sacrifice the health and well-being of my staff over your stream time on Facebook," she said.
"In all that I do, I take into consideration the timelines and the rules, I see to it that I perform my duty within the bounds of the law. The only reason for the unavailability of the resolution after 15 days is that I am reviewing three consolidated cases among others thoroughly to craft an objective resolution," Ferolino added.
She said she respects Guanzon's separate opinion on the consolidated cases.
"I respect your vote vis-Ã -vis your separate opinion; more importantly, whether your vote is supported or defeated, it will not benefit me in any way," Ferolino said.
She appealed to Guanzon to spare the poll body from controversies because "you are destroying the credibility of the agency which you claimed to have previously served with integrity and candor."
Ferolino then echoed Guanzon's words to then Chairman Andy
Bautista, "I am not your subordinate" as they are co-equal.
She said she pay heed to her Memorandum "out of courtesy."
