Valdez, Santiago banner women's pool in SEAG; men's pool remains intact

Alyssa Valdez and Jaja Santiago banner the 20-player national women’s pool being eyed to represent the country in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam in May.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation announced the list Sunday along with the men’s pool and the beach volleyball crew.
Joining Valdez and Santiago in the pool are Iris Tolenada, Jasmine Nabor, Deanna Wong, Jia Morado, Dawn Macandili, Kath Arado, Dell Palomata, Ria Meneses, Aby Maraño, Ces Molina, Kalei Mau, Kat Tolentino, Jema Galanza, Casiey Dongallo, Kim dy, Mylene Paat, Jelaica Gajero and Dindin Manabat.
Brazilian coach Jorge Edson Souza De Brito and Odjie Mamon are both head coaches of the squad along with assistants Grace Antigua and George Pascua, as well as trainer Raffy Mosuela.
Marck Espejo, John Vic De Guzman and Bryan Bagunas, meanwhile, spearhead the men’s cruse the include Francis Saura, Jessie Lopez, Manuel Sumanguit, Kim Dayandante, Josh Retamar, Joeven Dela Vega, Jack Kalingking, Mark Alfafara, Angelo Almendras, Ricky Marcos, Lloyd Josafat, Josh Umandal and Ish Polvorosa.
Except for Abdilla, who is lined up in beach volleyball, all members of the PH team that won the historic silver medal in the 2019 SEAG are in the pool.
Coach Dante Alinsunurin will mentor the men’s crew anew along with assistants Ariel Dela Cruz and Sherwin Meneses, as well as trainer Jeffrey Malabanan.
Eight male and eight female athletes are also in the beach volleyball pool.
Comprising the women’s pool are Sisi Rondina, Bernadeth Pons, Floremel Rodriguez, Genesa Jane Eslapor, Jozza Mae Cabalsa, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Nene Bautista and Baby Love Barbon.
The men’s pool has Jaron Requinton, Anthony Arbastro, Jude Garcia, James Buytrago, Philip Bagalay, Pol Salvador, Jeffer Guerrero and Abdilla.
Men’s and women’s beach volleyball coaches are Paul Jan Doloiras and Rhovyl Verayo, respectively.
Out of the 40 men and women athletes, the pool will be trimmed to 14 each gender in indoor volleyball. For beach volleyball, four men and four women – two teams each – will be named.
