OCTA sees gradual decrease of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila

Metro Manila’s coronavirus disease (COVID-19) risk level classification could improve to “low risk” within two weeks if the downtrend continues, an OCTA Research fellow said on Sunday, Jan. 30.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David, in a Twitter post, disclosed the latest COVID-19 risk level classifications for Metro Manila and CALABARZON as of Jan. 29.

“National Capital Region (NCR), Cavite, and Rizal at moderate risk. Batangas, Laguna, and Quezon are still at high risk. NCR could improve to low risk within two weeks if the downtrend continues,” said David.

He also noted that a positivity rate greater than 20 percent is still “very high.”

Among the areas classified under moderate risk were NCR (20 percent), Cavite (27 percent), and Rizal (30 percent), while Batangas (27 percent), Laguna (42 percent), and Quezon (39 percent) were classified as high risk.

“We need to strictly comply with health protocols to bring this down to low risk,” reiterated David.
